Heat exchanger is a description of both a product and a process. Almost self-explanatory, but in simple terms the process by which the energy (heat) in one medium is transferred to another. At Vestas aircoil, we specialise in air cooling, so most often we are exchanging the heat energy in hot air to a cooling medium like water.
There are plenty of other types of heat exchangers including, “shell & tube” and “plate exchangers” (often where both mediums are fluid).
At Vestas aircoil, we use our finned tube technology to manufacture charge air coolers for diesel engines and other similar air cooling requirements. In this scenario, we facilitate the exchange of heat energy from the “charged air” (pressurised), to the cooling medium; water.
